Continuously variable transmissions (CVTs) create unlimited gear ratios using a belt or chain running between two variable diameter pulleys. CVTs require a unique transmission fluid with specialized frictional characteristics designed to ensure the belt or chain remains in contact with the pulleys without slipping. AMSOIL Synthetic CVT Fluid provides outstanding metal-to-metal frictional properties and excellent protection and performance. It is Warranty Secure and is a cost-effective, high-performance alternative to vehicle manufacturer fluids.

Excellent Frictional Properties

The metal-to-metal frictional properties between the CVT’s belt/chain interface and the pulleys are important, relying on the CVT fluid to prevent slipping. AMSOIL Synthetic CVT Fluid provides exceptional metal-to-metal frictional properties to help prevent belt and chain slipping and help extend transmission life.

Outstanding Wear Protection of AMSOIL CVT

AMSOIL Synthetic CVT Fluid is durable. In normal and severe service, it effectively resists wear to the transmission’s vital parts, helping achieve long life.

Our Synthetic CVT fluid Resists Heat – Extends Band Life

In elevated heat, Synthetic CVT Fluid’s thermally stable formulation guards against the harmful effects of thermal breakdown. It resists the formation of varnish that can threaten transmission performance and life. Many of our customers remark they doubled the expected life of the transmission which had a known failure rate below 100,000 miles.

Superior Wet-Clutch Performance

AMSOIL Synthetic CVT Fluid provides superior wet-clutch performance for outstanding anti-shudder durability and reduced noise, vibration and harshness.

Field Proven

Field testing was conducted to compare AMSOIL Synthetic CVT Fluid and Nissan NS-2 CVT Fluid. Four vehicles (two equipped with AMSOIL CVT Fluid and two with Nissan NS-2 CVT Fluid) were driven 100,000 miles before the transmissions were torn down and inspected.

As indicated by the lack of wear in the belt and pulley photos below, AMSOIL CVT Fluid provided outstanding protection throughout the duration of the field trial, proving it is a high-quality replacement for Nissan NS-2 CVT Fluid.

One customer said after I asked if he noticed any difference, “I let my son drive it first and his smile went from ear to ear!”

Lab Tested CVT Fluid

AMSOIL lab testing also reveals AMSOIL CVT Fluid met, and in some cases surpassed, the protection and performance of Nissan NS-2 CVT Fluid:

  • In FZG wear testing (ASTM D5182), Nissan NS-2 achieved a 7 stage pass, while AMSOIL CVT Fluid significantly surpassed it with an 11 stage pass.
  • In the JASO LVFA Anti-Shudder Durability Test, AMSOIL CVT Fluid lasted six times longer, translating into improved anti-shudder durability and reduced noise, vibration and harshness.

Synthetic CVT Fluid Product Customer Reviews

Exceeds expectations..

By  RICH,  a  Verified Buyer  from  WV  on  February 12, 2023

I had read that if you wanted the CVT in 2019 Nissan Sentra to last, change the fluid around 40000 miles. I thought it was too soon but was curious, so I changed it and the filters using the Amsoil synthetic CVT. Night and day difference! Car shuttered before on a rapid acceleration, seem to do the same when going up a hill. Now it’s so smooth, I don’t think it was this smooth when brand new.

AMSOIL CVT Fluid

I heard a lot of good things about AMSOIL CVT Fluid on-line so I decided to try it in my 2019 Rogue Sport. Since changing the fluid the trans seems to shift smoother. Unprompted, my son who is the primary driver made the same observation. Looking forward to trying it in my other son’s Subaru.

Best synthetic out there!

I have been using Amsoil products for years, I have had several technicians. Recommend your products. Happy with my membership. Definitely worth it!

Great Company With Great Products!!
By  WALT,  a  Verified Buyer  from  Upstate, NY  on  December 06, 2022
Changed out the CVT Fluid on my Honda Civic at 27,500 miles and noticed a huge difference right away. There can be a big difference between what they call full synthetics and 100% synthetic fluids. Amsoil is a great company with some great products, and I’ve been using them for many years.

Best CVT fluid out there!
By  CHAD,  a  Verified Buyer  from  Oregon   on  November 30, 2022
I switched from the OEM CVT fluid to the Valvoline brand when I first got my AWD Nissan Rogue. It did okay but decided to try the Amsoil CVT oil. It made my car shifting much better. It ran smoothly and seems to run better than before. Definitely recommend it for any CVT drivers out there.

Save your CVT Transmisson
By  James,  a  Verified Buyer  from  Maine  on  November 24, 2022
dealership told me i needed a new trans in my 2014 pathfinder had the filter and strainer replaced and filled with amsoil cvt, it was like putting in a new trans at 75000 miles.

CVT Fluid – Amsoil vs. Honda
By  RICHARD,  a  Verified Buyer  from  Tennessee  on  November 22, 2022
The Honda CVT fluid is easy to change, and I have experienced no problems after using Amsoil for the last 3 service intervals (every 30k miles). The car has 160,000 miles at present and is running strong.

Subaru High Torque CVTF
By  BRANDON,  a  Verified Buyer  from  Pittsburgh, PA  on  June 05, 2022
Great alternative for the Subaru High Torque CVTF fluid requirement in Subaru TR690 transmissions of the 3.6R & WRX models. Changed at 88,000 miles. Original fluid was still slightly orange. After 3 drain and fills the trans shifts to reverse and drive quicker, the simulated stepped gear ratios also engage smoother and quicker. After much debate I went with Amsoil vs Subaru OEM and am very pleased.

High performance CVT fluid
By  CHAD,  a  Verified Buyer  from  Oregon   on  September 05, 2022
I was having issues with my Nissan Rogue CVT not running very smoothly. I changed the screen filter in the pan, the CVT cooler filter element along with the Amsoil CVT fluid and it runs so much better! I can tell you that the CVT cooler filter definitely needed to be changed but along with the superior fluid I can tell you it makes a huge difference. Definitely recommend using Amsoil. It’s cheap insurance for the cheap coolers they put on those vehicles. If you have a CVT transmission that is made by Jatco you better use good fluid and look into putting an aftermarket cooler on it. This is important to know if you have 80k miles or more on your vehicle. Spend a few more bucks on fluid instead of a new CVT transmission.

Do Transmission Fluid Additives Work? John Baker| Feb 26, 2024 9:04 AM Walk the aisles of most auto parts stores and you’ll find multiple “mechanic-in-a-bottle”-type additives that claim to restore transmission performance. The claims made typically include some variation of the following: • Frees stuck valves to improve shifting • Fixes transmission slipping • Restores smooth […]
