Upper Cylinder Lubricant – Add What’s Missing from the Gasoline
Your engine’s top-end is sparsely lubricated having very little to fight piston-ring and cylinder wear. Typical gasolines leave the engine prone to the development of performance-robbing deposits. It’s also highly susceptible to corrosion, an issue compounded by the prevalence of ethanol in today’s fuel. AMSOIL Upper Cylinder Lubricant is designed to solve those issues. Its AMSOIL-exclusive, powerful formulation helps maximize engine power and performance while increasing engine life. And unlike competing fuel additives, AMSOIL Upper Cylinder Lubricant works.
Several customers have reported measurable improvements in compression!! I have seen significant fuel economy adding this to even 15% ethanol.

Lubricates Top-End Components
The intense heat of combustion and limitations of the oil-control piston ring result in a lack of oil at the top of each cylinder. AMSOIL Upper Cylinder Lubricant’s unique additives provide that missing lubrication to fight piston-ring and cylinder wear, maximizing engine compression and horsepower. Its lubricity improvers also aid in protecting fuel injectors and other fuel-system components from wear, helping ensure excellent performance and long-life. AMSOIL Upper Cylinder Lubricant delivers 18 percent more lubricity than Lucas* and 20 percent more than Sea Foam* for better retention of horsepower and fuel economy (see chart below).1
So basically, if you’ve been using the Lucas or Sea Foam products, AMSOIL gives you an option to use an upper cylinder lube which actually does something!
Upper Cylinder Lubricant Inhibits Corrosion
Upper Cylinder Lubricant gasoline additive uses potent corrosion inhibitors to coat metal surfaces, block out moisture and stop deterioration before it starts. This is particularly important when using gasoline that contains ethanol due to its propensity to attract water and hasten corrosion. Inhibiting corrosion maximizes component life and reduces wear in the engine’s top-end to guard against compression loss and maintain optimum power.
Lubricates fuel system and upper cylinders
Fights ethanol-related corrosion
Helps keep injectors clean
Compatible with capless fuel systems
Keeps Injectors Clean
Upper Cylinder Lubricant contains detergent additives designed to maintain injector cleanliness. While AMSOIL P.i. Performance Improver is designed to attack and remove stubborn injector deposits that can reduce power and fuel economy, Upper Cylinder Lubricant helps preserve injector and combustion-chamber cleanliness. Using it with every tank of fuel helps retain fuel-economy and performance gains and maximizes component life.
Capless-Compatible Packaging
Many new vehicles have replaced traditional fuel caps with capless systems. The threads on most bottles restrict them from opening the flap inside the fuel neck and make removing the bottle difficult. The AMSOIL Upper Cylinder Lubricant bottle is fully compatible with capless fuel systems. It’s easy to insert, pour and remove the bottle.
RECOMMENDATIONS
For use with cars and trucks.
For best results, use with every tank of fuel. Do not refill tank until almost empty.
Treats up to 25 gallons. Add entire bottle to tank at fill-up.
Treat large gas tanks with two bottles of Upper Cylinder Lubricant. Using more than two bottles is not recommended.
Safe for use with catalytic converters, oxygenated gas and up to 15 percent ethanol-blended fuels. Do not use with E85 fuel.

Feel the difference
By ROBERT, a Verified Buyer from East Tennessee on June 07, 2024
You can feel the difference. Almost felt like it stalled and had to check my tachometer. Smooth. I bought a case. 🙂
Upper cylinder lubricant

Noticed my mileage increased… Very good product but everything Amsoil produces is very good…
Excellent Additive
By LetsGoBrandon, a Verified Buyer from Appalachia on April 25, 2024
This product far outperformed my expectations. I notice a small increase in fuel economy. The biggest difference is the smoothness of the engine. Works great to use this after running a tank with the Amsoil Performance Improver additive.
Best of the best
By EDWARD, a Verified Buyer on April 25, 2024
Since I started using all Amsoil products, my car runs better than new. The Upper Cylinder Lube keeps everything smooth, easy starts, no carbon pinging, etc. I will never NOT use this product.
BEST I’VE EVER USED
By EDWARD, a Verified Buyer on April 15, 2024
I use this to maintain injector cleanliness. Better results than any other I’ve used. I bought 2 cases and add a bottle at every fill up. I usually averaged 25-25.6 MPG driving 33 miles each way to work. Now, I’m getting 26.8-27.3 (depends on which way I go to work. Definitely an improvement.
Can I use either gasoline additive in racing applications? Yes, both additives can be used in racing applications that
use gasoline containing up to 15 percent ethanol.
Can I use gasoline additives in my diesel applications? AMSOIL does not support the use of our gasoline additives in
diesel applications; however, AMSOIL has a complete line of diesel additives specifically formulated for those applications.
What is the difference between AMSOIL P.i. and AMSOIL Upper Cylinder Lubricant? P.i. is our deep cleaning additive
that is formulated to clean the entire fuel system and restore engines to like-new performance. AMSOIL Upper Cylinder
Lubricant focuses on lubricating the top-end of the engine while also maintaining cleanliness and protecting against ethanol related corrosion.
How frequently should I use P.i. and Upper Cylinder Lubricant? P.i. should be used every 4,000 miles as a deep clean.
Upper Cylinder Lubricant can be used every fill-up.
Can I use both P.i. and Upper Cylinder Lubricant at the same time? Yes. Both products can be used together in one
tank of gasoline.
Do I need Upper Cylinder Lubricant if I use Top Tier fuel? Although Top Tier fuel is recognized as a premier fuel
performance specification it can lack either a sufficient quality or quantity of additives to provide the same protection as
AMSOIL gasoline additives. Also, Top Tier fuel formulations do not target lubricity.
Do I need to use gasoline additives if my vehicle is new? We recommend using AMSOIL gasoline additives throughout
the life of your vehicle to preserve like-new power and efficiency.
What’s the benefit of a capless compatible bottle? Many new vehicles have replaced traditional fuel caps with capless
systems (Ford). The threads on most bottles restrict them from opening the flap inside the fuel neck and make removing the bottle
difficult. The packaging of both AMSOIL gasoline additives are fully compatible with capless systems and make it easy to
insert, pour and remove the bottle.
Can I use Upper Cylinder Lubricant in my small engine? Yes, however Quickshot® is a better choice because it provides
additional benefits specific to small engines like fuel stabilization.
Can I use Upper Cylinder Lubricant with E85 gasoline? Upper Cylinder Lubricant is designed for use with gasoline that
contains up to 15 percent ethanol. Although not recommended for E85 gasoline, this additive will not cause harm to your
engine.
