Synthetic Multi-Purpose Grease NLGI #2 Reduces friction and wear in high-speed, high-temperature components like wheel bearings and electric motors. Keeps components running clean and trouble free for outstanding performance and long life. NLGI #2 is the primary wheel bearing recommendation.
AMSOIL Synthetic Multi-Purpose Grease is qualified against the highest grease standards and designed for multiple-use applications. Composed of premium-quality synthetic base oils and calcium sulfonate complex thickeners, Multi-Purpose Grease provides exceptional film strength, shear resistance, adhesion properties and mechanical stability. It excels in temperature extremes by providing excellent oxidation stability, high-temperature dropping point and low-temperature torque value and pumping capability. AMSOIL Synthetic Multi-Purpose Grease is formulated with oil soluble extreme-pressure additives for heavy loads, as well as oxidation and corrosion inhibitors.
Application Recommendation
AMSOIL Synthetic Multi-Purpose Grease is the preferred choice for medium to high ambient temperatures, sleeve-type bushings, high shock-loading environments, wet environments and wheel bearings and other automotive applications.
AMSOIL Synthetic Multi-Purpose Grease is recommended in heavy- and light-duty applications found in manufacturing facilities, automobiles, agricultural and construction equipment. These include, but are not limited to, roller bearings, plain bearings, thrust bearings, gears, electric motors, presses, winches, bushings, wheel bearings, chassis lubrication, universal joints, ball joints, tie-rod ends and steering knuckles.
Compatibility
AMSOIL Synthetic Multi-Purpose Grease is compatible with many other types of greases. However, it is recommended that when changing greases, the equipment be cleaned of the old grease when possible or flushed with a liberal amount of Multi-Purpose Grease while the mechanism is in operation. Closely monitor the system for any inconsistencies. Grease compatibility questions should be referred to your AMSOIL representative or AMSOIL INC.
APPLICATION MAINTENANCE
Maintaining a clean work environment is important when equipment greasing is performed. Wipe grease fittings clean prior to injecting grease to prevent contaminant ingestion. Maintain bearing housings one-third to one-half full of grease. Do not over-grease, as excessive heat buildup can result. Supplement standard grease maintenance by periodically cleaning and packing housings with fresh grease on an established maintenance schedule.

A manufacturing company in Illinois is saving big money using AMSOIL grease.
St. Louis Prestress in Glen Carbon, Ill. is a prestress/precast manufacturer of concrete pieces used to build various buildings such as parking garages, warehouses and schools.
The manufacturing process includes the use of extruder machines for making hollow core panels used for building roofs and floors.
Bryan Ebersohl, the maintenance supervisor and batch plant foreman at St. Louis Prestress, was looking for a way to save money when he decided to try AMSOIL Synthetic Multi-Purpose Grease NLGI #2 on the expensive bearings of the huge machines.
“These machines have vibrating augers that run about 16,500 rpms,” Ebersohl said. “I have tried lots of different grease trying to get a little longer life out of these bearings because they are very expensive. I used to change bearings about every 100 hours, because the grease would not hold up.”
The machines have 64 bearings each, and the company has three of the extruders. The bearings cost between $75 and $180 each, Ebersohl said.
The company is a commercial account for Dealer Larry Goss.
About four years ago, Ebersohl started using AMSOIL Synthetic Multi-Purpose Grease NLGI #2 on the bearings.
“Since I started using the AMSOIL grease I checked the bearings at 100 hours, 200 hours, 300 hours, all the way to 600 hours,” Ebersohl said. “This grease has saved our company thousands of dollars on bearings.
“Using this grease I haven’t had to change any bearings. I just clean them and reuse them. I used to take these machines apart at least every 100 hours to clean and usually replace bearings, now I run these machines up to 500 hours before cleaning the bearings and re-greasing them.”
